Types of Die-cutting Machines

Manual

These machines feature easily turned levers and cut paper and other materials using steel dies. Some machines use a power-driven component to spin the crank. Pressure is given consistently to the paper/fabric and the die as they move through the machinery, and the die cuts the material into the shape of the die. These are portable, can be readily stored, and are reasonably priced.

Digital

These are die cutting devices that are powered by electricity and are generally controlled by software. Digital machines do not require steel dies since they feature an in-built blade to cut the inserted material. In the software app, you may choose the shape in which you want the material to be cut, or you can use a cartridge. These have the appearance like printers and may be linked to your computer through a USB port.

Dies

These are metal items with a specified form and a raised, sharp region for cutting; they resemble cookie cutters in appearance. The form of the die is the shape of the cloth or paper that will be cut. There are several types of dies: Steel rule dies are sharper, have a protective foam or plastic coating, and are more robust since they can cut thick materials or many materials at once. Thin metal dies are not particularly sharp and cannot cut very thick materials. There are dies in a variety of forms, sizes, and styles, ranging from simple squares, rectangles, and circles to more sophisticated designs like as words, animals, flowers, and lacy shapes.
